# Map Stretch vs Maps for OSM

The clearest difference is rating: Maps for OSM at 5.0 against Map Stretch's 4.2. Maps for OSM also leads on device support (4 vs 2). Map Stretch's advantage is update cadence (every 5 days vs every 3 weeks) and ratings volume (10 vs 1). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Maps for OSM holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Map Stretch has 10 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 78% of Map Stretch's written reviews are positive against 75% of Maps for OSM's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Map Stretch ships an update every 5 days, Maps for OSM every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 1, 2026 and September 24, 2026 respectively.
