# TechTeam vs Verizon Protect

The clearest difference is ads: Verizon Protect at none against TechTeam's shown. Verizon Protect also leads on ratings volume (45K vs 6) and review sentiment (72% vs 50%). TechTeam's advantage is monetization model (ad-supported vs free with in-app purchases). On price, rating, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.8 for TechTeam against 4.7 for Verizon Protect. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Verizon Protect has 45K ratings behind it against 6, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 50% of TechTeam's written reviews are positive against 72% of Verizon Protect's.

TechTeam ships an update every 3 months, Verizon Protect every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 16, 2026 and October 18, 2026 respectively.
