# ResearchGate vs GuideApp

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: ResearchGate at none against GuideApp's 10. ResearchGate also leads on ratings volume (15K vs 1). GuideApp's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (every 10 days vs every 5 weeks). On price, rating, monetization model and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. GuideApp sells 10 one-off in-app purchases. ResearchGate asks for nothing beyond the download.

GuideApp holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: ResearchGate has 15K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

ResearchGate ships an update every 5 weeks, GuideApp every 10 days. Both last shipped on October 30, 2026.
