# ResearchGate vs Connect For Animals

ResearchGate and Connect For Animals both sit at 4.8 stars, but that hides the real split: 100% of Connect For Animals's written reviews are positive against 46% of ResearchGate's. Connect For Animals also leads on ads (none vs shown) and monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). ResearchGate's advantage is update cadence (every 5 weeks vs every 25 months) and ratings volume (15K vs 6). On price, rating, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Connect For Animals holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: ResearchGate has 15K ratings behind it against 6, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 46% of ResearchGate's written reviews are positive against 100% of Connect For Animals's.

ResearchGate ships an update every 5 weeks, Connect For Animals every 25 months. The most recent releases landed on October 27, 2026 and October 16, 2026 respectively.
