# ResearchGate vs KBR Pulse

ResearchGate and KBR Pulse both sit at 4.8 stars, but that hides the real split: 100% of KBR Pulse's written reviews are positive against 46% of ResearchGate's. KBR Pulse also leads on ads (none vs shown) and monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). ResearchGate's advantage is ratings volume (15K vs 8). On price, rating, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

KBR Pulse holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: ResearchGate has 15K ratings behind it against 8, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 46% of ResearchGate's written reviews are positive against 100% of KBR Pulse's.

ResearchGate ships an update every 5 weeks, KBR Pulse fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 25, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
