# ResearchGate vs Postcall

The clearest difference is ads: Postcall at none against ResearchGate's shown. Postcall also leads on monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases) and update cadence (weekly vs every 5 weeks). ResearchGate's advantage is ratings volume (15K vs 11). On price, rating, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

ResearchGate holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: ResearchGate has 15K ratings behind it against 11, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 46% of ResearchGate's written reviews are positive against 67% of Postcall's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

ResearchGate ships an update every 5 weeks, Postcall weekly. The most recent releases landed on November 7, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
