# Evolution of Species vs Squid Simulator

The clearest difference is rating: Evolution of Species at 4.6 against Squid Simulator's 3.7. Evolution of Species also leads on ratings volume (870 vs 16). Squid Simulator's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Evolution of Species holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 3.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Evolution of Species has 870 ratings behind it against 16, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 62% of Evolution of Species's written reviews are positive against 75% of Squid Simulator's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Evolution of Species ships an update every 4 months, Squid Simulator every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on November 2, 2026 and November 3, 2026 respectively.
