# Prompted Journal vs Carbonsaurus

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Carbonsaurus at none against Prompted Journal's 4. Carbonsaurus also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.8) and update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 2 months). Prompted Journal's advantage is ratings volume (6.9K vs 7) and review sentiment (95% vs 80%). On price, ads, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Prompted Journal sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month. Carbonsaurus asks for nothing beyond the download.

Carbonsaurus holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Prompted Journal has 6.9K ratings behind it against 7, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 95% of Prompted Journal's written reviews are positive against 80% of Carbonsaurus's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Prompted Journal ships an update every 2 months, Carbonsaurus every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 18, 2026 and October 15, 2026 respectively.
