# Speechify vs Text to Speech ‧ TTS Reader

The clearest difference is rating: Speechify at 4.7 against Text to Speech ‧ TTS Reader's 3.9. Speechify also leads on update cadence (weekly vs every 2 months) and ratings volume (527K vs 15). Text to Speech ‧ TTS Reader's advantage is review sentiment (76% vs 34%) and ads (none vs shown). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Speechify sells 14 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per 7 days and Text to Speech ‧ TTS Reader sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Speechify holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 3.9. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Speechify has 527K ratings behind it against 15, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 34% of Speechify's written reviews are positive against 76% of Text to Speech ‧ TTS Reader's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
