# Lib arXiv vs Persimmon

The clearest difference is rating: Persimmon at 5.0 against Lib arXiv's 4.1. Persimmon also leads on update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 6 weeks). Lib arXiv's advantage is ratings volume (13 vs 2) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 18.1). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Persimmon holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Lib arXiv has 13 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Lib arXiv ships an update every 6 weeks, Persimmon every 3 weeks. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
