# Sololearn vs Chessable

The clearest difference is ads: Chessable at none against Sololearn's shown. Sololearn's advantage is review sentiment (70% vs 50%) and ratings volume (82K vs 5.9K). On price, rating, update cadence and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Sololearn sells 12 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per month and Chessable sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $11.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.8 for Sololearn against 4.8 for Chessable. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Sololearn has 82K ratings behind it against 5.9K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 70% of Sololearn's written reviews are positive against 50% of Chessable's.

Sololearn ships an update every 2 weeks, Chessable every 3 weeks. Both last shipped on October 15, 2026.
