# SimpleTexting vs MWV SMS

The clearest difference is update cadence: SimpleTexting at every 3 months against MWV SMS's every 27 months. SimpleTexting also leads on ratings volume (3.4K vs 1). MWV SMS's advantage is monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases) and rating (5.0 vs 4.7). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

MWV SMS holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: SimpleTexting has 3.4K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

SimpleTexting ships an update every 3 months, MWV SMS every 27 months. The most recent releases landed on October 12, 2026 and October 5, 2026 respectively.
