# SimpleTexting vs RG SMS

The clearest difference is monetization model: RG SMS at free against SimpleTexting's free with in-app purchases. RG SMS also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.7). SimpleTexting's advantage is ratings volume (3.5K vs 3) and update cadence (every 3 months vs every 17 months). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

RG SMS holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: SimpleTexting has 3.5K ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two.

SimpleTexting ships an update every 3 months, RG SMS every 17 months. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 4, 2026 respectively.
