# HaloCam Action vs Lucent

The clearest difference is update cadence: Lucent at every 2 months against HaloCam Action's every 4 months. HaloCam Action's advantage is iOS requirement (8.0 vs 18.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

HaloCam Action ships an update every 4 months, Lucent every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on September 30, 2026 and September 17, 2026 respectively.
