# # Type vs iMarkdown

The clearest difference is rating: iMarkdown at 5.0 against # Type's 4.1. iMarkdown also leads on review sentiment (90% vs 56%) and update cadence (every 3 days vs every 3 weeks). # Type's advantage is ratings volume (11 vs 1). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. # Type sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month and iMarkdown sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

iMarkdown holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: # Type has 11 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 56% of # Type's written reviews are positive against 90% of iMarkdown's.

# Type ships an update every 3 weeks, iMarkdown every 3 days. The most recent releases landed on October 10, 2026 and September 18, 2026 respectively.
