# Metadata vs ProofCam

The clearest difference is rating: ProofCam at 4.6 against Metadata's 4.0. ProofCam also leads on update cadence (fortnightly vs every 4 months) and monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). Metadata's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and review sentiment (24% vs 14%). On price, ratings volume, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Metadata sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $0.99 per month and ProofCam sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

ProofCam holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.0. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 221 and 87 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 24% of Metadata's written reviews are positive against 14% of ProofCam's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Metadata ships an update every 4 months, ProofCam fortnightly. Both last shipped on October 1, 2026.
