# Black Highlighter vs Blur Text

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Black Highlighter at 54% against Blur Text's 20%. Black Highlighter also leads on ratings volume (93 vs 3). Blur Text's advantage is update cadence (every 3 days vs every 2 months) and rating (4.7 vs 4.4). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Black Highlighter sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month and Blur Text sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Blur Text holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Black Highlighter has 93 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 54% of Black Highlighter's written reviews are positive against 20% of Blur Text's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Black Highlighter ships an update every 2 months, Blur Text every 3 days. The most recent releases landed on November 6, 2026 and November 4, 2026 respectively.
