# DMV vs DMV Permit Test

The clearest difference is ads: DMV Permit Test at none against DMV's shown. DMV's advantage is review sentiment (83% vs 65%) and ratings volume (30K vs 1.4K). On price, rating, update cadence and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. DMV sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month and DMV Permit Test sells 24 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.7 for DMV against 4.7 for DMV Permit Test. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: DMV has 30K ratings behind it against 1.4K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 83% of DMV's written reviews are positive against 65% of DMV Permit Test's.

DMV ships an update fortnightly, DMV Permit Test every 8 days. Both last shipped on October 18, 2026.
