# DMV vs DMV Permit Test

The clearest difference is ads: DMV Permit Test at none against DMV's shown. DMV's advantage is ratings volume (31K vs 664) and review sentiment (83% vs 67%). On price, rating, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. DMV sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per 7 days and DMV Permit Test sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.7 for DMV against 4.7 for DMV Permit Test. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: DMV has 31K ratings behind it against 664, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 83% of DMV's written reviews are positive against 67% of DMV Permit Test's.

DMV ships an update fortnightly, DMV Permit Test every 5 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 8, 2026 and November 7, 2026 respectively.
