# StarTone vs GPS Music

The clearest difference is rating: StarTone at 4.0 against GPS Music's 1.0. StarTone also leads on update cadence (every 5 weeks vs every 22 months) and ratings volume (17 vs 1). GPS Music's advantage is review sentiment (100% vs 67%) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 18.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

StarTone costs $0.99 and GPS Music $0.99 up front. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

StarTone holds the better App Store score, 4.0 against 1.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: StarTone has 17 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 67% of StarTone's written reviews are positive against 100% of GPS Music's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

StarTone ships an update every 5 weeks, GPS Music every 22 months. The most recent releases landed on October 29, 2026 and October 20, 2026 respectively.
