# Zero vs AltaMail

The clearest difference is review sentiment: AltaMail at 90% against Zero's 25%. AltaMail also leads on ratings volume (373 vs 3) and iOS requirement (15.0 vs 17.0). Zero's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 3) and rating (5.0 vs 4.6). On price, update cadence, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. AltaMail sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month. Zero asks for nothing beyond the download.

Zero holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: AltaMail has 373 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 25% of Zero's written reviews are positive against 90% of AltaMail's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Zero ships an update monthly, AltaMail every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 29, 2026 respectively.
