# Social Steps vs Step Champ

The clearest difference is rating: Social Steps at 4.7 against Step Champ's 3.7. Social Steps also leads on ratings volume (5.2K vs 3). Step Champ's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 3) and iOS requirement (11.0 vs 18.6). On price, review sentiment, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Social Steps sells 3 one-off in-app purchases. Step Champ asks for nothing beyond the download.

Social Steps holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 3.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Social Steps has 5.2K ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 62% of Social Steps's written reviews are positive against 67% of Step Champ's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Social Steps ships an update weekly, Step Champ every 9 days. The most recent releases landed on October 20, 2026 and October 15, 2026 respectively.
