# Social Steps vs Upkeep Social

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Upkeep Social at 100% against Social Steps's 62%. Upkeep Social also leads on monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). Social Steps's advantage is ratings volume (5.2K vs 10) and rating (4.7 vs 4.5). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Social Steps sells 3 one-off in-app purchases and Upkeep Social sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Social Steps holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Social Steps has 5.2K ratings behind it against 10, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 62% of Social Steps's written reviews are positive against 100% of Upkeep Social's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Social Steps ships an update weekly, Upkeep Social every 5 days. The most recent releases landed on October 23, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
