# Trace Table vs Fontmaker

The clearest difference is monetization model: Fontmaker at free with in-app purchases against Trace Table's subscription. Fontmaker also leads on ratings volume (124K vs 10K) and chart position (#41 vs unranked). Trace Table's advantage is iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.0). On price, rating, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Trace Table sells 12 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per 7 days and Fontmaker sells 19 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.4 for Trace Table against 4.4 for Fontmaker. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Fontmaker has 124K ratings behind it against 10K, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 58% of Trace Table's written reviews are positive against 67% of Fontmaker's.

Trace Table ships an update every 2 months, Fontmaker monthly. Both last shipped on October 17, 2026.
