# Scouting vs HYGEAR

The clearest difference is rating: HYGEAR at 3.0 against Scouting's 2.0. Scouting's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 10) and ratings volume (915 vs 11). On price, review sentiment, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. HYGEAR sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Scouting asks for nothing beyond the download.

HYGEAR holds the better App Store score, 3.0 against 2.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Scouting has 915 ratings behind it against 11, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews split almost evenly too, at 13% and 13% positive.

Scouting ships an update fortnightly, HYGEAR every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 17, 2026 and October 8, 2026 respectively.
