# Face Recognition! vs Second Contact

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Second Contact at 100% against Face Recognition!'s 4%. Second Contact also leads on rating (5.0 vs 1.5) and update cadence (every 2 months vs every 7 months). Face Recognition!'s advantage is ratings volume (8 vs 1) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 15.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Face Recognition! sells 7 one-off in-app purchases and Second Contact sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Second Contact holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 1.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Face Recognition! has 8 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 4% of Face Recognition!'s written reviews are positive against 100% of Second Contact's.

Face Recognition! ships an update every 7 months, Second Contact every 2 months. Both last shipped on September 18, 2026.
