# Private Browser vs ORSurf

Private Browser and ORSurf both sit at 3.5 stars, but that hides the real split: 100% of Private Browser's written reviews are positive against 42% of ORSurf's. Private Browser also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 2) and update cadence (every 2 months vs every 8 months). ORSurf's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 16.0). On price, rating, ratings volume and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. ORSurf sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $2.49 per month. Private Browser asks for nothing beyond the download.

ORSurf holds the better App Store score, 3.7 against 3.5. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 10 and 18 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 100% of Private Browser's written reviews are positive against 42% of ORSurf's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Private Browser ships an update every 2 months, ORSurf every 8 months. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 26, 2026 respectively.
