# Joy Chinese vs M

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Joy Chinese at 100% against M's 0%. Joy Chinese also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 10) and ads (none vs shown). M's advantage is rating (4.6 vs 4.0) and update cadence (monthly vs every 8 months). On price and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. M sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per 7 days. Joy Chinese asks for nothing beyond the download.

M holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: M has 390 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 100% of Joy Chinese's written reviews are positive against 0% of M's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Joy Chinese ships an update every 8 months, M monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 18, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
