# Shutter Button vs DU Recorder

The clearest difference is rating: DU Recorder at 4.4 against Shutter Button's 3.6. DU Recorder also leads on ratings volume (56K vs 40) and update cadence (monthly vs every 5 months). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Shutter Button sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month and DU Recorder sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

DU Recorder holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 3.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: DU Recorder has 56K ratings behind it against 40, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews split almost evenly too, at 28% and 27% positive.

Shutter Button ships an update every 5 months, DU Recorder monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 14, 2026 and October 19, 2026 respectively.
