# Shutter Button vs PLAYit

The clearest difference is rating: PLAYit at 4.3 against Shutter Button's 3.6. PLAYit also leads on review sentiment (68% vs 28%) and update cadence (fortnightly vs every 5 months). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Shutter Button sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month and PLAYit sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

PLAYit holds the better App Store score, 4.3 against 3.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: PLAYit has 590 ratings behind it against 40, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 28% of Shutter Button's written reviews are positive against 68% of PLAYit's.

Shutter Button ships an update every 5 months, PLAYit fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 27, 2026 respectively.
