# DW Learn German vs Branch

The clearest difference is price: DW Learn German at Free against Branch's $4.99. DW Learn German also leads on rating (3.9 vs 3.5) and ratings volume (131 vs 2). Branch's advantage is update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 16 months). On review sentiment, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

DW Learn German is free to download; Branch costs $4.99 up front. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

DW Learn German holds the better App Store score, 3.9 against 3.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: DW Learn German has 131 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 45% of DW Learn German's written reviews are positive against 50% of Branch's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

DW Learn German ships an update every 16 months, Branch every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 2, 2026 and November 3, 2026 respectively.
