# Private Text Message vs 2ndNumber

The clearest difference is rating: 2ndNumber at 2.0 against Private Text Message's 1.4. 2ndNumber also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 6). Private Text Message's advantage is ratings volume (23 vs 4) and iOS requirement (8.0 vs 15.6). On price, review sentiment, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Private Text Message sells 6 one-off in-app purchases. 2ndNumber asks for nothing beyond the download.

2ndNumber holds the better App Store score, 2.0 against 1.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Private Text Message has 23 ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 6% of Private Text Message's written reviews are positive against 0% of 2ndNumber's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
