# AI Scanner vs Text Reader

The clearest difference is ads: Text Reader at none against AI Scanner's shown. Text Reader also leads on iOS requirement (12.0 vs 15.6). AI Scanner's advantage is update cadence (every 8 days vs every 20 months) and ratings volume (9.2K vs 22). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. AI Scanner sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month and Text Reader sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

AI Scanner holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: AI Scanner has 9.2K ratings behind it against 22, so its average is the more settled of the two.

AI Scanner ships an update every 8 days, Text Reader every 20 months. The most recent releases landed on October 29, 2026 and October 22, 2026 respectively.
