# Fender Play vs SSL Now

The clearest difference is ads: SSL Now at none against Fender Play's shown. SSL Now also leads on update cadence (every 3 days vs monthly) and monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). Fender Play's advantage is ratings volume (61K vs 1) and chart position (#132 vs unranked). On price, in-app purchases, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Fender Play sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $7.99 per month and SSL Now sells 3 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

SSL Now holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Fender Play has 61K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Fender Play ships an update monthly, SSL Now every 3 days. The most recent releases landed on October 28, 2026 and October 9, 2026 respectively.
