# Mood Scanner vs Lie Detector

The clearest difference is rating: Lie Detector at 4.4 against Mood Scanner's 2.8. Lie Detector also leads on review sentiment (41% vs 10%) and ratings volume (1.2K vs 39). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Mood Scanner sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Lie Detector sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Lie Detector holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 2.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Lie Detector has 1.2K ratings behind it against 39, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 10% of Mood Scanner's written reviews are positive against 41% of Lie Detector's.

Mood Scanner ships an update every 13 months, Lie Detector every 7 months. The most recent releases landed on November 2, 2026 and November 3, 2026 respectively.
