# SimpleCal vs Date Today

The clearest difference is review sentiment: SimpleCal at 85% against Date Today's 29%. SimpleCal also leads on rating (4.7 vs 4.1) and ratings volume (18K vs 28). Date Today's advantage is update cadence (every 4 days vs fortnightly). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. SimpleCal sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month and Date Today sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

SimpleCal holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.1. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: SimpleCal has 18K ratings behind it against 28, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 85% of SimpleCal's written reviews are positive against 29% of Date Today's.

SimpleCal ships an update fortnightly, Date Today every 4 days. The most recent releases landed on October 28, 2026 and October 27, 2026 respectively.
