# SmartPet vs MettaPet

The clearest difference is rating: SmartPet at 2.4 against MettaPet's 1.0. SmartPet also leads on ratings volume (8 vs 1) and iOS requirement (8.0 vs 13.0). MettaPet's advantage is update cadence (fortnightly vs every 6 weeks). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

SmartPet holds the better App Store score, 2.4 against 1.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: SmartPet has 8 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

SmartPet ships an update every 6 weeks, MettaPet fortnightly. Both last shipped on October 11, 2026.
