# iCasting TV vs Open

The clearest difference is rating: iCasting TV at 5.0 against Open's 2.7. iCasting TV also leads on update cadence (monthly vs every 2 months) and iOS requirement (9.0 vs 15.0). Open's advantage is ratings volume (86 vs 1). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

iCasting TV holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 2.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Open has 86 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

iCasting TV ships an update monthly, Open every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 3, 2026 and October 20, 2026 respectively.
