# Hg vs CestaChef

The clearest difference is review sentiment: CestaChef at 100% against Hg's 47%. CestaChef also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.3) and monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). Hg's advantage is update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 3 months) and ratings volume (259 vs 4). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

CestaChef holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Hg has 259 ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 47% of Hg's written reviews are positive against 100% of CestaChef's.

Hg ships an update every 2 weeks, CestaChef every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on October 26, 2026 and October 13, 2026 respectively.
