# Calculus vs Derivative

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Derivative at none against Calculus's 1. Derivative also leads on update cadence (monthly vs every 4 months). Calculus's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and iOS requirement (8.0 vs 15.1). On price and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Calculus sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Derivative asks for nothing beyond the download.

Calculus ships an update every 4 months, Derivative monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 9, 2026 and October 12, 2026 respectively.
