# FPL vs ElevationCheck

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: FPL at none against ElevationCheck's 1. FPL also leads on ads (none vs shown) and ratings volume (24K vs 6). ElevationCheck's advantage is update cadence (every 2 days vs every 6 weeks) and review sentiment (63% vs 41%). On price, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. ElevationCheck sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $3.99 per month. FPL asks for nothing beyond the download.

FPL holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: FPL has 24K ratings behind it against 6, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 41% of FPL's written reviews are positive against 63% of ElevationCheck's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

FPL ships an update every 6 weeks, ElevationCheck every 2 days. The most recent releases landed on November 4, 2026 and November 3, 2026 respectively.
