# FieldCalc vs ElevationCheck

The clearest difference is update cadence: ElevationCheck at every 2 days against FieldCalc's every 3 weeks. FieldCalc's advantage is rating (4.5 vs 4.2) and ratings volume (10K vs 6). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. FieldCalc sells 17 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per 7 days and ElevationCheck sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $3.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

FieldCalc holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: FieldCalc has 10K ratings behind it against 6, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 68% of FieldCalc's written reviews are positive against 63% of ElevationCheck's.

FieldCalc ships an update every 3 weeks, ElevationCheck every 2 days. Both last shipped on October 30, 2026.
