# Focus timer vs Hustly

The clearest difference is monetization model: Focus timer at free with in-app purchases against Hustly's subscription. Focus timer also leads on review sentiment (77% vs 47%) and ratings volume (1.8K vs 48). Hustly's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (every 9 days vs every 5 weeks). On price, rating and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Focus timer sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Hustly sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.6 for Focus timer against 4.7 for Hustly. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Focus timer has 1.8K ratings behind it against 48, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 77% of Focus timer's written reviews are positive against 47% of Hustly's.

Focus timer ships an update every 5 weeks, Hustly every 9 days. The most recent releases landed on October 12, 2026 and October 14, 2026 respectively.
