# Map Coordinate vs CompassPro

The clearest difference is monetization model: Map Coordinate at free with in-app purchases against CompassPro's subscription. Map Coordinate also leads on ratings volume (661 vs 5) and review sentiment (97% vs 80%). CompassPro's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 2 months). On price, rating, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Map Coordinate sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per year and CompassPro sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.6 for Map Coordinate against 4.6 for CompassPro. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Map Coordinate has 661 ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 97% of Map Coordinate's written reviews are positive against 80% of CompassPro's.

Map Coordinate ships an update every 2 months, CompassPro every 2 weeks. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
