# Mata Chat vs Seagull IM

The clearest difference is rating: Mata Chat at 5.0 against Seagull IM's 3.6. Mata Chat also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 13) and ads (none vs shown). Seagull IM's advantage is ratings volume (46 vs 1) and review sentiment (87% vs 67%). On price, update cadence and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Seagull IM sells 13 one-off in-app purchases. Mata Chat asks for nothing beyond the download.

Mata Chat holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 3.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Seagull IM has 46 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 67% of Mata Chat's written reviews are positive against 87% of Seagull IM's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
