# Format 3 vs Darbar Player

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Format 3 at none against Darbar Player's 2. Format 3 also leads on review sentiment (100% vs 91%) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 16.6). Darbar Player's advantage is rating (4.9 vs 4.7) and ratings volume (35 vs 3). On price, update cadence, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Darbar Player sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month. Format 3 asks for nothing beyond the download.

Darbar Player holds the better App Store score, 4.9 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Darbar Player has 35 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 100% of Format 3's written reviews are positive against 91% of Darbar Player's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Format 3 ships an update every 4 months, Darbar Player every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on November 2, 2026 and November 3, 2026 respectively.
