# Oriole vs PlatoVPN

The clearest difference is monetization model: PlatoVPN at freemium against Oriole's subscription. PlatoVPN also leads on ratings volume (36K vs 220) and review sentiment (65% vs 43%). Oriole's advantage is update cadence (weekly vs every 3 weeks). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Oriole sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month and PlatoVPN sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

PlatoVPN holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: PlatoVPN has 36K ratings behind it against 220, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 43% of Oriole's written reviews are positive against 65% of PlatoVPN's.

Oriole ships an update weekly, PlatoVPN every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 20, 2026 and October 29, 2026 respectively.
