# Phodeo vs FilterScope

The clearest difference is monetization model: Phodeo at free with in-app purchases against FilterScope's subscription. Phodeo also leads on rating (4.5 vs 4.0) and ratings volume (181 vs 4). FilterScope's advantage is update cadence (weekly vs every 2 weeks). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Phodeo sells 6 one-off in-app purchases and FilterScope sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $1.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Phodeo holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Phodeo has 181 ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Phodeo ships an update every 2 weeks, FilterScope weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 21, 2026 and October 9, 2026 respectively.
