# SMS Junk Filter vs SpamShield

The clearest difference is rating: SpamShield at 5.0 against SMS Junk Filter's 3.2. SMS Junk Filter's advantage is update cadence (every 9 days vs every 4 weeks) and ratings volume (16 vs 1). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. SMS Junk Filter sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $7.99 per year and SpamShield sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $14.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

SpamShield holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 3.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: SMS Junk Filter has 16 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

SMS Junk Filter ships an update every 9 days, SpamShield every 4 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 21, 2026 and October 20, 2026 respectively.
