# UWorld MCAT Prep vs NextStep

The clearest difference is review sentiment: NextStep at 100% against UWorld MCAT Prep's 35%. NextStep also leads on monetization model (ad-supported vs free with in-app purchases) and update cadence (fortnightly vs monthly). UWorld MCAT Prep's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and rating (4.5 vs 4.2). On price, in-app purchases, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

UWorld MCAT Prep holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: UWorld MCAT Prep has 157 ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 35% of UWorld MCAT Prep's written reviews are positive against 100% of NextStep's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UWorld MCAT Prep ships an update monthly, NextStep fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 23, 2026 respectively.
